Doja Cat’s Twitter Account Breached for Promoting Solana Meme Coin

Doja Cat's Twitter Account Hacked to Shill Solana Meme Coin

American rapper and singer Doja Cat recently fell victim to a Twitter hack, joining a list of celebrities whose accounts have been compromised to promote Solana-based meme coins. In response to the breach, she took to Instagram to inform her 24 million followers that she was not behind the unauthorized tweets.

The cybercriminal behind the attack began posting crypto-related content on Doja Cat’s account at 7:15 pm ET on Monday, urging users to “buy $DOJA or else.” The hacker continued to post over two dozen times, even going as far as removing Doja Cat’s profile picture and description from the account, which boasts 5.6 million followers.

Twitter users were quick to recognize the breach and flagged the tweets accordingly. In addition to Doja Cat, the hacker also targeted other celebrities like Iggy Azalea, known for her involvement in the crypto space. Azalea, who frequently discusses her $MOTHER meme coin on Crypto Twitter, denounced the actions of the hackers on social media.

The new $DOJA token, traded on Solana’s Raydium platform, saw relatively low activity following the hack, with under 15,000 transactions amounting to around $2.2 million in volume. This incident is one of many involving hacked social media accounts of high-profile figures, often used to promote Solana-based meme coins.

In the past, celebrities like Hulk Hogan, 50 Cent, and Metallica have also had their Twitter accounts compromised in similar schemes. These incidents highlight the importance of enhanced security measures in the crypto and NFT space to prevent unauthorized access to influential accounts for fraudulent activities.
