Binance CEO CZ Denied Travel Permission by U.S. Judge for the Second Time

Binance's CZ Denied Permission to Travel by U.S. Judge for the Second Time

A federal judge has once again denied Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao’s request to travel abroad as he awaits sentencing for criminal charges in the U.S. This ruling by Judge Richard Jones of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington comes after prosecutors argued that Zhao posed a flight risk.

This is the second time Zhao has been denied permission to travel abroad, and the sealed ruling filed on Friday did not provide detailed information about Zhao’s argument against the court’s decision. It’s known that Zhao wanted to return to the UAE, where his three children and their mother reside.

Last month, the former Binance CEO pleaded guilty to violating the Bank Secrecy Act and was released on a $175 million personal recognizance bond, along with other financial conditions.

This case has raised questions about Binance’s future, with some wondering if the company is big enough to survive a potential $4.3 billion fine and the potential ousting of founder CZ.
